Meet Sheldon – The Gentle Tank with Puppy Eyes

I

Today we welcomed a new guest to our home — Sheldon, a 6-year-old French Bulldog with the body of a bodybuilder and the soul of a gentleman. Despite his incredibly muscular build, Sheldon is as sweet and mellow as they come. He joined us for just a half-day today, but it didn’t take long for his charm to shine through — one look at those puppy eyes and that cute, smooshed face, and we were all smitten.

Sheldon carries himself with a quiet confidence. He’s not shy, but he’s definitely not the rowdy type either.

No excessive barking or chaos — just a few soulful, mature-sounding barks here and there that somehow feel thoughtful. It’s like he’s having a conversation with the world in his own low-key way.

One thing we’ve quickly learned: this guy has an appetite! He had no trouble finding the big splash-proof water bowl (a challenge for some first-timers!) and finished his dinner like a pro. Smart and observant, Sheldon is already making himself right at home.

Around other pups, Sheldon keeps his cool. He’s not overly excitable, which is probably a good thing. Let’s be honest, he’s stronger than anyone in the house, myself included! It’s kind of sweet how he seems to know his own strength and chooses to just vibe with the crowd instead of throwing his weight around.

If there’s one thing we’re keeping an eye on, it’s his marking. Let’s just say Sheldon is very… thorough when it comes to staking out the backyard — every 15 to 30 seconds kind of thorough. So for now, the diaper stays on until we can trust those instincts to chill out a bit.

Oh, and the pooping! He gifted us with three (yes, three!) before dinner, which is quite a bit more than usual for a pup his age. We think it might just be his way of adjusting to a new environment, but we’ll keep monitoring just in case.

Another little quirk? Sheldon loves rolling around — grass, concrete, sand, pavement — if it’s on the ground, he’s rolling in it. We’re keeping an eye on his skin to make sure it’s not due to any irritation or allergy, but so far, he seems happy as a clam.

We’re thrilled to have Sheldon staying with us for the week and can’t wait to see more of his personality unfold. With his charming looks, gentle energy, and that little old-soul bark, he’s already won our hearts.

Day 2 – Muscles, Manners, and a Love for Toys

Sheldon was an absolute champ last night—he slept through peacefully without a single peep. Not even a snore! He patiently waited until I got up around 6:30 AM, then headed straight outside to take care of business like a pro.

After breakfast, he shifted right into explorer mode. He dove into our toy collection and gave each one a thorough “inspection.” He pulled out just about every toy we own, seemingly determined to find the one. Spoiler alert: he couldn’t choose—he loved them all!

Sheldon spent much of the day playing with Hershey and Tosey. Despite his big bulldog grin and powerful frame, he continues to show what a true gentleman he is during playtime. Gentle, respectful, and full of positive energy.

Another great sign, his stool was noticeably better today. It looks like he’s adjusting well to the new environment, and his body is settling in. His appetite and water intake are still excellent, and while he plays with enthusiasm, he also knows how to wind down and relax. He’s been rotating through all the comfy beds we have like a true connoisseur of naps.

All in all, Sheldon seems to be genuinely enjoying his stay here and has already made some great furry friends. 🐾

Fun, Naps, and… a Little Drama!

Sheldon has been having an absolute blast during his stay! From zoomies with his doggy pals to playing with every toy in sight, he’s been soaking up all the fun. True to his easygoing nature, Sheldon takes his naps wherever and whenever he pleases—he’s truly mastered the art of relaxation.

That said, he’s still clinging to his quirky backyard ritual: rolling around like he’s auditioning for the Itchiest Pup award. It’s all in good fun, but it does mean a solid wipe-down is required before he can come back inside sparkling clean again.

Things took a bit of a turn when we welcomed a new guest, a 4-year-old Beagle named Puba. For reasons known only to Sheldon, he’s taken an unusually strong interest in her—specifically, he just can’t seem to stop trying to hump her. This is definitely a first for Sheldon; he’s never shown this kind of behavior with any other dog here.

Unfortunately, Puba’s not a fan of the attention and has made it very clear she’d like her space. So, to keep the peace, I’ve had to separate them quite a bit. Oddly enough, when they’re both out in the courtyard, where it’s a bit warmer and less pristine than indoors, they’re perfectly civil. But once inside, Sheldon’s fascination with Puba kicks in again. This is causing a bit of disharmony among other dogs as well.

Here’s hoping it’s just a case of early-visit excitement, and with a little time (and some patient redirection), Sheldon will settle back into his usual charming self. Until then, we’re keeping things balanced and making sure everyone stays comfortable and happy.
