Savannah – Day 2: My Sweet Shadow
Although today is only Savannah’s second day with us, I can already say—with zero hesitation—that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with her. From the moment she arrived, she somehow decided I was her person. She’s become my little Velcro pup, following me from room to room, even into the bathroom (and yes, more faithfully than even my own babies do!).
As I sit here typing this, she’s quietly curled up under my desk, while the rest of the gang is off chasing tails and doing their own goofy things. She’s not clingy in an anxious way, just genuinely attached in the most endearing way. It’s like she’s made it her job to keep an eye on me, and I couldn’t be more touched.
I actually had to make a rare Costco run today (first one in three weeks!), and I asked my parents to keep an eye on the pack while I was gone. When I got back, my mom told me that while my own babies waited patiently by the garage entrance, Savannah was frantically running around the house, barking and looking for me. And the funny thing is—she’s hardly barked at all since she arrived, aside from our first meet and greet. Her reaction just melted my heart.
She constantly seeks eye contact, and the moment I bend down, she’s ready with a face-licking ambush. Her affection is so pure and sweet. And when she’s not busy shadowing me, she’s having the absolute time of her life discovering every single toy in the house. It’s like she’s on a mission to test them all before deciding on her favorite—and honestly, I don’t think she’s made up her mind yet!
She’s also been playing beautifully with everyone in the backyard, and we even carved out a quiet moment together to cuddle and enjoy the peaceful spring breeze. It was such a lovely pause in the day, just the two of us soaking it all in.

I had been warned she might not finish her big morning meal in one go, but she surprised me—polished it right off! I think she’s been so active and engaged since arriving that she’s more than ready to fuel up. Throughout the day, I’ve been sneaking her little snacks too—because honestly, how could I resist that sweet nature and those smiling eyes?

I’m truly enjoying having Savannah here. She’s made a special place in my heart already, and I sincerely hope we will get to see her more often in the future.
