Our Honorary Family Member
It’s been a little while since I last wrote an entry for Dingo, but that’s not because he hasn’t been in our lives – quite the opposite! In the short span of about two months, Dingo has boarded with us five times, and in that time, he has become an honorary family member. Honestly, I’ve been holding off on writing because I wanted this one to come straight from the heart. Life has been hectic – between personal and professional projects – and I didn’t want to just write about Dingo; I wanted to capture how much he means to us.

Here’s the tricky part, though: Dingo is almost too easy to love and too easy to write about because he is just pure happiness in dog form. He doesn’t come here with any worries or quirks that need “working through” – he just comes to have a great time. And, oh, does he ever have a great time! Sometimes, I admit, his mom and I both get a little jealous of his carefree lifestyle.

The real magic happens with Hershey and Frasier Jr. From the moment Dingo trots through our front door, Hershey is rolling across the floor, play-bowing and spinning in circles to welcome him. Those two have their own language of play – Hershey tends to keep him busy inside, their paws skittering across the hardwood as they chase and tumble like professional wrestlers who love their job. Then there’s Frasier Jr., who takes over outside. Once we’re in the yard, Frasier and Dingo engage in their epic fetch battles – Frasier’s determination to be the fastest pup in the yard is met by Dingo’s unstoppable energy. It’s friendly competition at its best, and the laughter and barking could fill a stadium.

But what makes Dingo extra special to me is his loyalty and connection. Even when Hershey and Frasier Jr. are napping, Dingo will quietly follow me around as I move through the house. Whether I’m grabbing coffee, working on my laptop, or even stepping into another room, I’ll hear his soft paws behind me, and when I look back, there he is – happy, relaxed, and always ready for a quick belly rub. He greets every moment with his trademark big grin, white teeth gleaming, and that adorable little tail wagging like it’s powered by joy alone.

Dingo’s visits aren’t just dog sitting – they’re a reminder of how sweet and simple life can be when you have good friends, open space to run, and love all around you. And for that, we’re not just lucky to watch him; we’re honored to call him family.
