Miracle – Always Room for One More—Especially in a Moment of Need

I

At Biggest Little Doggy Care, we believe in being there for dog parents—especially when things don’t go as planned. This morning, that meant stepping up for a last-minute guest named Miracle, a sweet little Shih Tzu mix whose original sitter canceled on her family at 1am, just hours before their work trip to Reno from Sacramento. Can you imagine the stress of being in a new city, with business meetings on the calendar, and suddenly no one to care for your pup? We couldn’t turn them away.

Even with three other daycare pups already scheduled for the day, there was just no way we’d let Miracle and her parent down. That’s what we’re here for—to help, to support, and to be the trusted place people can count on when they need it most.

And let me tell you, Miracle lived up to her name.

She fit in immediately—no hesitation, no fuss. She trotted into the house with the confidence of a pup who’s done this a hundred times. Within minutes, she was playing with our regulars and my two Schnauzer babies like she was part of the family. She brought the perfect kind of energy: fun and playful, but not chaotic. The kind of energy that gets everyone moving without overwhelming the group.

She actually reminded me of Duke, one of our older past guests, but in a younger body—same sweet face, just with a bit more bounce in her step. It was honestly a blessing that she settled in so quickly, because I had my hands full with another guest later in the day. Miracle made things easier, not harder, and that’s a rare gift in last-minute situations.

By dinnertime, she ate with the pack like she’d always been one of them. And by 5pm? Everyone had found their favorite napping spot for a well-earned rest—including Miracle, who surprised me by hopping into my lap while I worked at my computer. Even though we just met, it felt like we’d known each other forever.

It’s moments like this that remind me why I started Biggest Little Doggy Care in the first place—to offer a safe, loving, and flexible place for pups when their people need it most. We hope to host Miracle again in the future.
