Ferguson’s Calm Confidence & Cozy Charm

Ferguson’s visits have always been a pleasure—but today felt different. After several stays, it seems like he’s fully opened up to me, and I couldn’t be happier. He shadowed me throughout the day, occasionally hopping up just to sneak in a quick face lick (his way of saying, “You’re my guy now”). While he’s still a little more reserved with my wife, his loyalty and affection toward me felt like a milestone moment in our growing friendship.

What I love most about Ferguson is his balanced energy. He’s calm and collected with just the right amount of playfulness—never over the top, always easygoing. He’s a dream guest. Today, he meshed perfectly with every dog in the house, including our newest visitor, Pepper. While Pepper was a bit reserved around our two Schnauzer pups, Ferguson’s gentle energy seemed to put her at ease.

Once the playful moments wrapped up, he made himself right at home—curling up on the big orange dog bed near my desk (his personal favorite), but still making his signature rounds to test every cozy spot in the house. He’s like a little home inspector… but fluffier.

We had another peaceful, tail-wagging day with no incidents or drama. I’m even starting to trust him more around the house without the diaper—a big step for a guy who’s clearly growing in all the right ways.

Ferguson’s Sleepover – Feels Like Home

Ferguson is back for another fun-filled sleepover—and at this point, we’re pretty sure he’s already part of the family. Honestly, if it were up to him, he’d claim our bed as his own without hesitation… and he definitely doesn’t take no for an answer!

He arrived for the weekend like he never left, immediately jumping into his usual high-energy play mode. The best part? This weekend he’s surrounded by his old crew: dogs who are close to his size and age, which means the play is lively but not chaotic. It’s a joy to watch them interact—no crazy barking, just lots of tail wags, playful pounces, and happy vibes all around. It keeps the mood calm and cheerful, which is a win for everyone.

Ferguson’s also a total pro with the doggy door now. He’s in and out all the time, but not necessarily for potty breaks—we think he just loves the freedom, the sunshine, and the fresh air. It’s heartwarming to see him soaking up everything our little doggy resort has to offer.

If we had to pick one area for improvement, it’s definitely his marking habit. He’s living proof that neutering doesn’t always stop that behavior—myth busted! 😂 But hey, we’re working on it.

After his buddy Tosey checked out, Ferguson finally started to slow down a bit in the evening. And in true Ferguson fashion, he made sure to test out every single dog bed in the house before winding down. Still, we have a feeling we know where he’ll end up for the night—curled up right in our bed, like the honorary pack member he is.
