Poppy & Ellie: Velcro Duo on Vacation
After sharing the sweet sisterhood of Poppy and Ellie last week, we were greeted by yet another dynamic duo—Colby and Panda—two pups who couldn’t be more different in personality, yet equally lovable in their own ways.

Colby is a mature, tiny Cavapoo who carries himself with quiet confidence. Don’t let his petite size fool you—behind those soulful, cautious eyes is a pup who knows exactly what he wants. From the short time we’ve gotten to know him, Colby’s independent nature stood out right away. He’s the type who carefully sizes you up before deciding if you’ve earned his trust. Lucky for us, that didn’t take long. Before we knew it, Colby had fully claimed our laps, arms, and even our hearts.
Between my wife and me, we’ve basically been competing over who gets to be Colby’s personal pillow. He’s been spoiled—shamelessly. He’s had zero solo time since arrival, preferring snuggles over socializing, and we haven’t had the heart to tell him no. After his morning potty, while the rest of the pups are off romping and playing, Colby makes a beeline back to our bed. Yes, we’ve even served him breakfast in bed… a full bed-and-breakfast experience fit for royalty (and he’s loving every minute of it).

On the complete opposite end of the personality spectrum, we have Panda—a 4-month-old Bernedoodle bursting with puppy energy and boundless curiosity. His parents were a little worried he might get stressed being away from home, but Panda must’ve missed that memo. From the moment he arrived, he’s been the life of the party.
We were fortunate to have a full house on his first day, including Lulu, a 1-year-old mini Goldendoodle who quickly became his new best friend. Panda and Lulu were a perfect match—nonstop play, puppy zoomies, and lots of tail-wagging adventures. But don’t mistake Panda for a pup who only seeks out doggy friends—he is very into his humans too. In fact, unlike most puppies who whine when they’re alone, Panda does the opposite—he barks and whines when we’re all around! It’s almost as if he’s reminding us, “Hey, I’m here! Look at me!”

We were most concerned about how his first night would go, especially since his parents warned us he might struggle being apart from them. Funny thing, if he was left to roam freely, he would kept barking and whining as if he continues wanting to play with someone (even though everyone are tired and about to go to sleep); but once we tucked him into his kennel after a full day of play, Panda settled down quietly and slept like a champ. It was such a relief for all of us! Colby, on the other hand, just completely being treated as royalty, slept next to us in our bed from night to late morning, even after everyone else had already started their day.
The bigger challenge now? Keeping Panda entertained and quiet during the day (not an easy task for a 4-month-old extrovert with stamina for days). But honestly, watching him and the other young pups run around and socialize has been such a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. Seeing their confidence build and their little personalities
bloom in this safe, playful environment—it’s incredibly fulfilling.

Both Colby and Panda have been eating well, drinking plenty of water (we think Panda might’ve gone through 4 liters on his own!), and are more than happy to accept any and all treats offered their way. That alone is a relief—some of our shy guests have taken days to eat, which always stresses me out more than it does them.

After spending just a full day with us, I can confidently say there’s zero concern with these two. Colby’s loving the lap life, Panda’s ruling the play yard, and both are getting exactly what they need in their own ways.
Another successful stay for another unforgettable duo.
