Weekend Recap: Colby & Panda’s Wild Ride

Some weekends just fly by — and when you’re surrounded by pups having the time of their lives, it’s no wonder I completely forgot to sit down and write a blog post for Colby and Panda! Blame it on too much fun… or maybe just a very long, busy week with a house full of happy paws.

Let’s start with Colby, who absolutely stole the show during a fun and glamorous photo session. He was a total natural under the lights — calm, composed, and totally owning his moment like a pro. I managed to capture some really great shots of him, and I’m thrilled with how they turned out! Unfortunately, I couldn’t do the same for Panda this time around. His supercharged ADHD energy means he can’t stay still long enough for a lens to catch him — and my little home-studio corner just isn’t big enough yet. But I’ve already got some ideas in the works for his next visit. Challenge accepted!

Colby also had a blast with his chosen group of pups and totally lost it (in the best way possible) with the new Costco toys I brought home last week. One in particular became the target of his playful rage — and in a hilarious twist, he got so into it that Hershey, our usual toy queen, actually gave up and let him have it. That’s a first!

As for Panda, he practically became Hershey and Frasier Jr.’s honorary sibling. The three of them were an inseparable whirlwind of zoomies, rolling from room to room and yard to yard — especially in the mornings after a good night’s rest. He’s proven to be a great free-roamer at night too — quiet as a mouse until I’m up and about. No fuss, just waiting patiently (which is impressive for a pup with his energy!).

The only downside to their nonstop wrestling and outdoor romps? The dirt. If I bathed them every time they came inside, I’d need a full-time doggy spa in here. 😂 But honestly, they had an absolute blast, and that’s what matters most.

We already can’t wait to welcome Colby and Panda back next month. Until then, enjoy the glamour shots and give them a big squeeze from us!

Yin and Yang: The Story of Colby & Panda, the Contrasting Brothers

It’s quite the weekend here at our little doggy retreat — a full house of sibling duos! By coincidence, we’ve got four pairs of brothers and sisters staying with us, including our own two. Among them are the ever-entertaining Colby and Panda, two brothers who couldn’t be more different in size, personality, and vibe… yet somehow, they balance each other perfectly. True Yin and Yang energy under one roof.

Colby is the quiet type — not shy, but calculated. He has that innocent poker face that makes you want to trust him completely… but don’t be fooled. If you’re not paying attention, this little mastermind will stealthily weave through the crowd and try to assert his dominance when no one’s looking. Last time he was here, he had his eyes set on Lulu. This time? He grew bolder, confidently challenging our seasoned regulars, Ferguson and Tosey.

What’s more, he’s come a long way since his last stay. Back then, he hid away on our bed, needing extra encouragement just to eat — sometimes only if the food bowl followed him on to the bed! But this time around? He marched himself straight into the dining room during mealtime, something he didn’t dare do before. His appetite improved with his confidence, and it was clear he felt more at home.

Meanwhile, Panda is the enthusiastic younger brother (by just a bit), filled with puppy curiosity and boundless energy. He wants to be everyone’s best friend — even if he hasn’t quite figured out who that is yet. With a short attention span and a heart full of excitement, he chased after nearly every pup in the house. And yet, just as quickly, he’d retreat to enjoy some alone time on the daybed outside, even when everyone else had already come in. Maybe it’s the breeze, maybe the view… or maybe that spot just makes him feel like a king.

The biggest worry for his parents (and for us too) was how he’d sleep that first night. Fortunately, he did wonderfully — resting soundly most of the night, even falling right back asleep when I got up in the middle of it. A small win that made a big difference!

Inside the house, these two brothers often go their separate ways. Colby prefers to stay close by, waiting patiently for a chance to sneak into my lap for snuggles — usually when Ellie and Poppy (his new favorite introverted sisters) vacate their prime cuddle spots. Otherwise, he’s content to nap under my desk while I’m on the computer. Panda, on the other hand, embodies full puppy energy — roaming around the house, checking in on everyone (pups and humans alike), making the rounds like a curious host at a party.

We’ve been trying our best to tire Panda out during the day to ensure peaceful nights for everyone — and so far, mission mostly accomplished!

One little thing worth mentioning — since we’ve had more pups than usual, we’ve been playing it safe and keeping the boys in diapers inside. Every few hours, we take them off before letting them out for a stretch. Almost every time, we find “evidence” in the diaper (LOL). The only time they were clean, surpringly was this morning after a long night of sleep. We’ll keep monitoring, but it’s a good sign that they’re settling into the routine.

All in all, Colby and Panda are doing wonderfully — socializing, exploring, and enjoying all the stimulation this busy weekend brings. Whether they’re curled up next to me or leading the way into new adventures, they’re truly thriving. And we’re so glad to have them back.
